This pattern is for doll club member's personal use. I was thinking about the holidays and the many ways in which they are celebrated around the world by different peoples and cultures. I wanted to make a symbol of how this time of year makes me feel—the magic and joy of the season and my continuing wish for peace on earth. My gift to the members of doll club this holiday season is a tiny angel to bring you peace, joy and good tidings. Happy Holidays! This is a very simple trace and sew pattern. Trace the body and arm pattern pieces onto freezer paper and cut out. Fold a piece of flesh colored fabric, right sides together and iron the freezer paper patterns to the fabric. Carefully sew around the pattern pieces leaving openings where indicated. Trim the seam allowance, clipping curves as needed. Turn all pieces right side out. Stuff the body firmly and sew or ladder stitch the opening closed. Stuff the arms firmly about 1/2-3/4" from the bottom and set aside. For the dress, you will want to use a fabric with some drape. Silk or a very lightweight cotton works best. Trace the dress bodice onto freezer paper and cut out. Fold a piece of soft white fabric, right sides together and iron the freezer paper pattern to the fabric. Sew one side seam of the bodice and cut out leaving 1/4" seam allowances on the unsewn sides. We will gather the skirt, attach it to the bodice and attach the lace and ruffle before sewing the second seam. This allows you to sew these together with a sewing machine. For the skirt, cut a piece of dress fabric 4" x 5" (where 4" is the length of the dress less seam allowances). Sew a gathering stitch on the top edge of the skirt and pin to the lower bodice making sure to center the gathers on the center front and center back of the skirt. Ease the gathers to fit leaving the seam allowance free of gathers. Sew the skirt to the bodice. Select a piece of tiny lace and sew to the bottom edge of the skirt with the lace edge facing towards the bodice. For the ruffle, cut a piece of fabric 5" x 1 1/2", fold in half and iron to crease fold. Sew a gathering stitch on the raw edges and pin to the skirt bottom edge. You will sew the piece on the wrong side following the seam line you created when the lace was sewn on. This ensures that the lace is sewn in with no raw edges showing. Sew the final side seam. Fold down the seam allowance on the upper bodice edge and tack. Slip the dress on the doll and ladderstitch the shoulder seams. For the sleeves, cut 2 pieces of fabric 2 x 2 1/2" where 2" is the sleeve length, fold and sew the long side. Fold a seam allowance on one edge of the sleeve. Gather the other edge, tie off and turn sleeve right side out. The edge which is tied off is sewn to the shoulder area of the dress. Slip the hands into the open edge and gather the sleeve up around the hand securing tightly. I used two pieces of fancy lace to create the wings. Simple sew or glue the wings to the back of the doll. Add some fiber or yarn for hair.
